Caminhar dois minutos a cada hora reduz risco de doenças

Pesquisadores da Universidade de Utah, nos Estados Unidos, descobriram que a troca de hábitos sedentários por atividades leves e rápidas, como caminhar ou fazer trabalhos domésticos, melhora significativamente a saúde. De acordo com o estudo, se caminharmos por dois minutos a cada hora, o risco de morte causado por doenças associadas ao sedentarismo é reduzido em 33%. No caso de pessoas com doença renal crônica, a redução é ainda maior: 41%. Estes resultados foram publicados esta semana no periódico Clinical Journal of the American Society of Nephrology.

Para Srinivasan Beddhu, coordenador do estudo, quando as atividades físicas, mesmo que leves, são repetidas várias vezes ao longo do dia, podem fazer uma grande diferença. Presumindo que uma pessoa passe 16 horas por dia acordada, dois minutos de caminhada a cada hora, todos os dias, representa um gasto de 400 calorias por semana. O exercício moderado ainda fortalece o coração, os músculos e os ossos.
