Ioga – um bem pro coração

Baseada em 11 pesquisas com, no total, 800 voluntários, uma revisão do Instituto Cochrane sugere que essa prática milenar ajuda a baixar a pressão e os níveis de triglicérides. “Ao contrário do que se pensa, certas posturas demandam esforço do sistema cardiovascular. E isso promove adaptações benéficas”, explica Danilo Forghieri Santaella, professor de educação física do Centro de Práticas Esportivas da Universidade de São Paulo. Em outras palavras, a ioga é, sim, um exercício cardioprotetor. Mas, até por essa característica, ela exige que seus fãs tomem alguns cuidados, em especial se já têm um problema de saúde. “Hipertensos não podem realizar posturas invertidas, porque a pressão sobe bastante ao ficarmos de ponta-cabeça”, exemplifica Santaella.

Por que a modalidade resguarda o coração

Vasos relaxados 
A movimentação decorrente da ioga incitaria a fabricação de óxido nítrico, molécula que reduz a pressão arterial.

Mais colesterol bom 
Não dá pra dizer que a técnica reduz o colesterol ruim. Mas ela aumenta as taxas de HDL, a versão que tira gordura dos vasos.

Cuca fresca 
A ioga é uma das práticas mais eficazes para aliviar a tensão. E, com menos hormônios do estresse circulando, o risco de um piripaque cardíaco cai.
